Thai massage is advanced therapeutic bodywork that should only be administered by qualified practitioners; No oils are used in Thai massage. It is known in Thailand as “nuad phaen boran”.The word “Nuad” means “to touch with purpose of healing” and the “Bo Rarn” is Sanskrit for something that is ancient and profound. Thai massage is also known as Thai Yoga massage. The roots of traditional Thai Yoga massage is in India from where it was brought to Thailand over 2000 years ago by Ayurvedic doctors and Buddhist monks. Therefore Thai massage is an ancient form of therapeutic healing. Thai massage is a combination of acupressure, energy balancing, stretching and applied yoga exercises. The Thai massage practitioner concentrates on creating an impact on the four states of mind loving kindness, compassion, vicarious joy, and equanimity. The main motive is to create an empty space to receive healing energy, it is a philosophical theory but it does create a sense of well being in the receiver. The massage practitioner starts with a puja where in the massage practitioner petitions god and his saints to assist him with the right sense of healing and energy so that it can be used appropriately on the receiver who can reap the benefits of a Thai session.
