Lymphatic Massage:

The lymphatic massage was first developed as a treatment for lymphedema disease. The lymph, a milky fluid in which our organs and muscles are bathed, delivers nutrients, antibodies and other immune constituents to the tissue cells and drains impurities and wastes away. These wastes are a by-product of metabolism and are normally drained by muscular contractions when we exercise. A lymphatic massage not only serves to stimulate the movement of lymph, but also helps to strengthen our immune system. Of late, it has also become increasingly popular to use a lymphatic massage for cosmetic benefits – it is believed the massage gets rid of stretch marks.

Sports Massage:
Developed only in the recent years, the sports massage is essentially a form of Swedish massage which specially caters to athletes. It is used before, during or after events to enhance an athlete’s performance, as part of an athlete’s training regime or to speed up recovery from injuries. Generally, a sports massage is slow and thorough; the therapist begins with superficial strokes to identify any problem areas and detect overused muscles, the most common cause of sports injuries. These muscles are hard and tense compared to the surrounding tissues. A sports massage is usually given through clothing and lasts 30 minutes to an hour.
