Natural Make-Up Ingredients Which Are Age – Old

Before make-up was made, women would use a range of natural ingredients and still do in traditional households and also in the manufacture of some natural cosmetic products. So get your natural basic correctly:

1. Eye Make-up Ingredients:
Clarified Butter: Kaajal is still made with pure ghee at home. Ghee nourishes the skin. For maximum benefits and kaajal which is made at home, use ghee for it.
Copper Sulphate Powder: Often made from copper currency, this blue powder – though not directly derived from nature, was used as eye shadow. Anti bacterial and anti fungal it is believed to be toxic to the bacteria carried by flies and prevents eye infection. Consult a doctor before using it.

2. Lip Color:
Betel leaf:Betel Leaf was chewed more by women than men because it coloured the lips red but now there is more use of lipstick.
Bees Wax: It has skin softening properties. It was and continues to be widely used in the manufacture of lip balms and lipsticks. It increases the moisture content of the skin.
Saffron: It was used for colouring of lips and continues to be used in various herbal brands.

3. Foundation and face make-up:
Cornflour: It was used as a powder to make the face look fairer. It can also reduce the growth rate of facial hair when used over a period of time.
Sandalwood Powder: It was used as a make-up base as it gave a fine texture and cooled the skin.
Gem stones: Powdered rubies were used to colour the cheeks during the day and powdered pearl was applied at night to get a shimmer. Pearl and diamond extracts are still used in some high-end blush-on.
Saffron: It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and is known for its lovely golden yellow hue.

4. Body Make-up:
Henna: Used to decorate parts of the body especially in tropical countries, due to its cooling effects.
Shea butter: This was taken from the shea tree and used to make body lotions, lip balms and lipsticks. An active ingredient in modern cosmetics as well. It hydrates the skin.
Sandalwood paste: It was used to decorate parts of women’s bodies. It has an antiseptic property and has a cooling effect.
