Make up For The Forty Plus

Every woman enters the threshold of turning 40 one day. But it is nothing to be anxious about. There comes the question that what sort of make-up should be used. With the advent of age, many changes take place in our skin structure. At that stage of life, make-up, if applied properly, can take care of our skin and appearance.

Bare Minimum:
Even if you are making a trip to the supermarket, a touch of makeup is not a bad idea. For a quick update that won’t take more than three minutes, moisturize your face, then apply a foundation that matches your skin tone, the moisturizer will saturate any wrinkles on your skin, ensuring that the foundation doesn’t make them stand out. Next, for a youthful glow, swipe a pink-hued blush over the apples of your cheeks, then apply clear lip gloss to your lips – you might think gloss is only for teenagers, but it instantly makes lips look plumper and fuller, which in turn, makes you look younger.

Daytime Dressy: Certain occasions demand a look that is polished, yet not too “done-up”. To achieve that effect with minimal effort, simply take your day look up one notch. Replace the light-coloured lip gloss and blush with darker tones and add eyeliner, eyes tend to droop with age, so extend the liner beyond the lid and lift it outwards. Finally treat your eyes to two coats of mascara – mascara is one product every make-up artist swears by, because it instantly opens up the eyes, and makes you look more awake.

Classy And Formal: Evening make-up doesn’t always have to be dramatic or drastic. A simple trick to add instant interest to your face, bold lips. For perfect results, don’t buy a berry, ruby or red shade from a store. Create your own hue – mix two or three of your favourite dark shades to arrive at a colour that looks best on you. Finish by lining your eyes with kohl, then add mascara and just a hint of rosy blush. With age, lips tend to become slightly down-turned. For a quick fix, apply some concealer to the outer edges of your lips known as the smile lines and blend it upwards.
