Make-up should be applied in the following sequence. The procedure how to apply make-up is equally important to your final make-up itself. It is most important to put on make-up in a proper sequence to get the desired effect that you long for. Knowing how to apply make-up is tricky but at the same time enjoyable. You have to follow steps to get it all correct as the overall appearance of a person depends on the way the make-up is put. Use the right technique and application method to bring out the best features and optimize the beauty to the fullest.
The sequence to make-up application starts with the foundation. But before that cleanse your face as it should be clean to start with. A clean face accepts make-up better. Even though most of the time you do not have more than five minutes to spare before walking out the door, you can apply make-up in those few minutes and transform your looks completely.
1. Clean your face:
Washing removes any residue of old make up or any oils that may interfere with the application. Wash your face with something that is not too harsh or too dry. If it is the morning, stay away from exfoliants as if can redden the face. Instead, you can use a cream cleanser. Then, use a moisturizer. The cleansing cream should help to clear the pores and blackheads. It should be lightweight and have SPF in it.This will balance the face, as it will not create too much grease and will keep your face far from drying out. If you wash your face too much then the pores will give out more grease to compensate and you will break out with pimples. SPF protects the skin from the ultra violet rays and it is good to take precautions at a young age so when you come to an age when wrinkles are about to arrive, you can prolong it by using good moisturizer. Moisturizer works best when applied to the skin when it is slightly damp as it will help out to even the skin. Now the cleansing part of the face is over.
2. Apply foundation:
Foundation protects your skin from the environment – the sun, wind and pollution which we are exposed to. The key to flawless complexion is and coverage is not to look like you are wearing a mask. Choose a foundation that matches your skin type. First of all, try out all different shades of it on your inner wrist and buy the one that suits your skin type and that too in natural light. A foundation brush gives great coverage without sponge marks, but you can use a sponge if you know how to apply it correctly. The idea is to apply foundation all over the face and blend it in such a way that there are no patches visible.
Apply foundation by dotting it on your forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. If you don’t want to fully cover the whole area, then apply wherever needed. Take a damp sponge and distribute the foundation all over your face equally. After you have done that, check your jaw line and hairline to make sure that you have applied it all over and there are no patches. Use your fingers to press gently all over your face, as the heat of the fingers will help in the blending process. Try and do this every time you apply foundation. Now go to an area where there is natural light and check to see whether you can notice any flaws and if there are present, you can take care of the problem areas.
If you have light freckles, then do not pay too much heed to cover them up as they don’t stand out too much. Use a sheer foundation and show them off. But if your freckles are dark, and you just don’t want to show them, then use a cream foundation to cover them and even out the tone of the skin. Be sure that your face is not one colour and your neck another. That is when blending and application of foundation right up to the neck area is necessary to give yourself the natural look, otherwise your overall look will be artificial.
