There are several hair problems that men face on an everyday basis. It could be due to several factors like the work pressure, stress, pollution, lack of sleep and lack of proper diet, etc. Over-use of chemicals and pollution play a big part in the destruction of the hair. Following a hair care regimen is of utmost important but in this busy world where time is precious, taking care of the hair is often not given importance, resulting in all sorts of hair problems.
Dry Hair:
If the hair type is dry, then it is due to less production of oil glands in the scalp. Dry hair looks limp and dull and does not have a shine as it does not reflect light as much as shiny hair. Men who suffer from dry hair also suffer from infections like eczema, dandruff or psoriasis.
Remedy for dry hair:
Make sure when you shop for shampoo and conditioner, buy one especially for dry hair , as these shampoos have a mild detergent and more conditioning agents. A good conditioner locks in the hair’s moisture. If your hair is extra dry, use a leave-in conditioner, it will be the hair softer and more manageable. These are applied after a shower. Make sure the shower is not too hot and you do not wash your hair more than once a day. If you skip a day or two between washes, the scalp will get a chance to retain the natural oil in the hair. If you have a chronic infection in the scalp, then it is better to consult your doctor but in case the condition is mild, over-the-counter medication for the scalp is available and easy to apply.
Oily Hair:
This is obviously the opposite of dry hair. Men who suffer from this condition should keep the hair short. This happens when the oil glands are overactive, then the hair gets greasy and sticks to the scalp. Conditions like this are most common in men who have oily skin and it also depends on their intake of food. Oily hair can also cause acne in men, so keeping the hair out of the face is a good idea.
Remedy for oily hair: The best way to control oily hair is to use a shampoo exclusively made for oily hair. They have extra detergents and less conditioning agents. If you are using the wrong shampoo, then you will have to keep on washing your hair as one wash will not suffice. If you know that the shampoo you are using does not lather much, then it is time for another shampoo. You do not need to use a conditioner when you have oily hair as the natural oils are enough to leave it conditioned. If you use a conditioner, then there are chances due to the stickiness, dirt will pollute the hair follicles, causing blackheads. Try to maintain a hairstyle that does not need frequent combing or brushing. Every time you use a brush or comb on your hair, the oil from the scalp are drawn up and the hair gets more oily.
