c. Mat and Ring: The two pieces of Pilate’s equipment that are necessary for home use are a mat and a ring. Thick foam comprises of the mat and is great for support during all movements. To add resistance to the Pilates movements, rings are a perfect addition.
d. Medicinal Ball: The Pilate ball is also known as Swiss Ball, Stability Ball, Gym Ball or Fit Ball. The round shell of a sphere is an unstable surface and since it is so, when we are lying down or sitting or leaning on it, we have to keep on balancing ourselves. The movements to steady ourselves help isolate and activate the deepest muscle layers in the body. This tool helps to get back balance, activate the deep abdominal muscles and develop good posture. It also supports and stretches the body.
e. Stretch Bands: The Pilates Resistance Band is also known as the Flex-Band or Thera-Band. It is a strip of latex that adds some element of subtle resistance to a workout. This tool helps to lengthen the major muscles, improve flexibility, enhance joint mobility and works out the upper and lower parts of the body.
