Homemade Face Masks For Different Skin Types:
1.Moisturizing Masks:
Ideally suited for Dry skin types these masks hydrate and moisturize the skin.
— For Dry Skin Types:
A.Egg Mask: Combine 1 egg, 1 tsp almond oil with 1 T half and half (A mixture of half milk and half cream. It has 10-12% milkfat and cannot be whipped.). Apply to your face. Leave on for about 15 minutes. Remove with cool water.
B.Yoghurt Mask: Mix 2 tsp natural yogurt, 1/2 tsp turmeric with 1/2 tsp natural cocoa and apply to face and neck. Wait 30 minutes until dry. Rinse off. Skin glows and feels so soft.
C.Honey Egg Mask: Mix one egg yolk, one tsp. honey and a tsp. olive oil and some vitamin E oil if you have it. Smooth on and leave on for 15 min. , rinse in lukewarm water and pat dry.
D.Milk Mask: Mix 1 tsp powdered milk, 1 tbsp runny honey, 1 tsp aloe vera gel, 2 drops essential oil with 1 tbsp pulverized almonds. Apply to freshly cleaned face and leave on for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat dry.
E.Orange Mask: Mix 1 tsp freshly squeezed orange juice, 1 tbsp fuller’s earth, 1 tbsp rose water with 1 tbsp liquid honey to make a paste. Smooth lightly onto the skin. Rinse after 15 minutes.
F.Chickpea Flour Mask: Mix 2 tbsp chickpea flour with yogurt and olive oil, enough to make a paste. Apply on a damp clean face and rinse when dry.
G.Avocado Mask: Mash up an avocado, add a touch of sweet almond oil and smooth the mixture over your face, keep it on for as long as possible to nourish and soften your skin.
— For Oily Skin:
A.Essential Oil Mask: In a one-ounce amber glass bottle, add 2 tsp hazelnut oil, 1 tsp jojoba oil, 1/4 tsp carrot seed oil. Add 6 drops of Rosemary essential oil, 2 drops of Geranium essential oil, 2 drops of Basil essential oil, 2 drops of Cypress essential oil and mix well by shaking the bottle. Label. Use twice daily after cleaning the face and use a facial mist just prior to applying. Use 4 to 6 drops and apply to neck and face. Avoid the eye area.
B.Vegetable Mask: Mix 1/2 tomato, mashed (remove seeds and skin), 2 tsp. curd, 1 tsp. mashed cucumber, 3-4 tsp. oatmeal powder, 3 crushed mint leaves together and apply on your face. Wait for ten minutes, and then wash off with warm water.
C.Egg and Honey Face Mask: Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. vitamin E oil, 1 tsp. almond oil together, stirring until smooth. To use, apply to face and rinse with warm water after 15 minutes. This easy mask is suitable for all skin types. It clarifies and moisturizes the skin, leaving it cleansed and silken. Egg yolks contain anti-oxidants, which are very beneficial to our skin.
D.Apple Honey Mask: Mix 1 medium apple with grated 4 Tbsp honey. Smooth over your clean skin and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse gently with warm water and moisturize as usual. This mask is good for oily skin that has a tendency to break out.
E.Lime Mask: Mix 1 Teaspoon of Lime Juice, 1 Teaspoon of Orange Juice, 1/2 Jar of Yogurt with no added sugar well. Apply evenly onto the face and let it sit for 10 minutes. Rinse clean with warm water afterwards.
F.Flour Mask: Mix 1 egg, ½ tbsp. olive oil, 1 tbsp. milk, ¼ tbsp. salt, 1 tbsp. flour / or ground rice well in a bowl. First mix the egg, the milk and the olive oil. Then carefully add the flour and the salt. You should get a thick mixture – you can apply and one or two drops of rosewater. Apply the mask to a cleansed face and don’t forget to apply and to the neck. Leave the mask on for approximately 15/ 20 minutes. At the end rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply a hydrating cream.
G.Oatmeal Mask: Mix 1 tbsp runny honey and 1 egg yolk together in a small bowl, then slowly stir in enough oatmeal(4 tbsp) to make a soft paste. Smooth the mask onto the skin of the face and neck and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry.
— For Normal Skin:
A.Clay, Aloe Vera Mask: Mix 2 Tbsp. green or rose clay, 1 tsp. honey, 2 drops geranium oil and use aloe vera or water to make a paste. Apply on the face and rinse after 15 minutes when dry.
B.Egg And Oatmeal Mask: Mix one egg and 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal and a tsp. olive oil until smooth. Spread on your face and leave 15 min then rinse.
C.Fruit Mask: Cook 1/4 peach. Mash together 2 strawberries 1/4 cup mashed papaya and add oatmeal and 1 tsp honey to make a paste. Apply on the face and wash off after 15 minutes. The fruit acids will remove dead skin and leave you with a beautiful, hydrated glow and the oatmeal helps to calm the skin.
D.Avocado Mask: Mash or liquidize half an avocado pear with 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil. Apply the mixture to the face and neck avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.
E.Egg And Honey Mask: Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. vitamin E oil, 1 tsp. almond oil, stirring until smooth. To use, apply to face and rinse with warm water after 15 minutes.
F.Essential Oil Mask: Mix 1 Tbsp the clay/kaolin, 1 tbsp cornflower and 1 tbsp oats together with one beaten egg white and floral water. Add 1 drop geranium oil and 1 drop neroli oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.
— For Combination Skin:
A.Cucumber And Yoghurt Mask: Puree ¼ of a cucumber in a blender and mix it with 1 Tbsp plain/natural yoghurt. Apply and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
B.Parsley And Honey Mask: Prepare a mask by mixing fresh parsley juice (just crush the leaves with a pestle and mortar) with honey and apply on skin for 12-15 minutes and wash off.
C.Rose Water Mask: Wash the rose petals of 1 rose in water. Soak for a few minutes and then crush in a bowl. Add 1 tbsp rose water, 1 tbsp natural yoghurt, 1 tbsp honey. Mix well and apply to the skin for five minutes. Rinse off with tepid water.
D.Coconut And Pineapple Mask: Mix 1 tsp. warm coconut milk with 1 tsp. cornstarch and 1 tsp. pineapple juice. Apply on face and rinse after 12 minutes.
E.Honey Mask: Put a few tbsp of honey into a bowl, rinse your fingers in warm water then dip them in honey and apply on face and neck. Leave it on till you feel your skin has absorbed the goodies from honey (10 minutes, perhaps) then rinse it off.
F.Apple Honey Mask: Mix one grated, medium-size apple with 2-3 tbs of honey. Apply on face, leave for ten minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.
— For Sensitive Skin:
A.Olive Oil And Avocado Mask: Mask twice a week by combining 1/2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil and 1-1/2 tsp. mashed avocado. Chill mixture briefly, then massage into skin and leave on for 5 minutes. Remove mask with a soft cotton cloth.
B.Rose Oil And Honey Mask: Mix 2 T Honey, 2 T Sweet Almond oil, 5 drops essential oil of Rose, 1 drop Vitamin E oil. Massage onto clean face and neck with fingertips. Relax for 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Gently pat dry to reveal a fresh, soft complexion.
C.Oatmeal And Egg Mask: You need a third of a cup of whole, uncooked oatmeal and one egg yolk. In a blender, grind the oatmeal into a fine powder. In a small bowl, blend the powdered oatmeal with the yolk into a paste. Apply mixture to clean skin and leave for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
D.Clay And Chamomile Mask: Take 1 tablespoon rose clay, 1-2 teaspoons avocado oil, 1 drop rose oil and 1 drop Roman chamomile oil. Mix ingredients. Use water, if necessary, to make a paste. Use a little more clay if too runny. Massage on the face; rinse off.
E.Honey Mask: Warm some hone to melt it, then apply. Leave the mask on for 20-25 minutes.
— For Mature Skin:
A.Oatmeal And Milk Mask: Mix 2 tbsp of oatmeal with half a cup of milk and cook on low, stirring gently, till it becomes soft. Add 1-2 tbs of olive oil (cold-pressed), mix well. Allow to cool then apply on face and neck. Rinse off after 15-25 minutes.
B.Avocado And Honey Mask: Combine 1 mashed avocado, 1 cooked and mashed carrot, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1 egg, beaten, 3 tablespoons honey in a bowl until smooth. Spread gently over your face and neck, and leave in place 10-15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
B.Banana Mask: Mash up a very ripe banana. Add just enough honey to make a soft pulp. Apply over the face. Rinse after 20 minutes.
C.Sugar Mask: Take 3 Tbsp sugar and dissolve it in 4 Tbsp warm water. This mask is good for maturing skin and will help soften the wrinkle lines.
