Corrective Makeup Tricks

Covering or camouflaging flaws on the face with make up is called corrective make-up. It is to accentuate a person’s best feature and minimizing a person’s unflattering flaws or faults. First of all before starting the make-up, the person’s flaws and features have to be summed up and scrutinized and then the client or person has to be told which part of her body and face need touching up. It has to be done with tack and a lot of consideration. So, emphasize the good features, minimize the imbalanced or not so good features, by shadowing or shading with the right combination of cosmetics.
Highlighting: To get a certain area of a face highlighted, a lighter shade of foundation is used, known as highlighting. That focuses attention on that particular area.
Shading: A darker shade of foundation is applied to an area of the face where it should attract the least attention. That is called shading.
Blending: In this two shades of foundations are used and it is applied towards the required direction. No indication of two foundation shades being used should be visible. You have to be cautious while blending.

Importance Of Make-Up:
Different colours are used for different effects. Correct colour choosing for corrective make-up is the most important factor as different colours play down or maximize an individual’s face. You should take the following factors into consideration before getting your mind set on a colour:

  1. First of all, analyze the shape of the face and the front profile.
  2. Find out the colours of your skin, eyes and hair.
  3. Compliment your skin, eyes and hair with the correct colour that will suit.
  4. Features which are imperfect should be toned down with the correct dark colours, whether by blending or shading.
  5. According to the corrective result required, select and apply make-up highlighters.
