Stress-free Gymming:
Forget those sweaty, image-obsessed health clubs. Find one where you are at ease. Maybe you have been there. You walk into an unfamiliar health club and look around at a bewildering array of equipment, weight, and teeny-boppers with their trim midriffs showing. You tug nervously at gym clothes that suddenly feel two sizes too small. There is a treadmill free, the only piece of equipment you feel some what comfortable with. So you grab it, walk dutifully for 30 minutes, and then go straight home. Many others share this experience. A third of those responding to a survey commissioned by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association said they felt intimidated working out at a health club. But there is good news. Gymming can be a more pleasant experience if you know what to look for. And you will probably be in good company, since gyms are no longer the sole province of models and weightlifters. Sure, you can stay home and exercise but there are advantages to working out at a health club. For one, a club is going to have a lot more equipment and you can constantly change your routine, which can be difficult to do at home. And then there is the buddy factor. A buddy always offers moral support. If you choose a gym that has others in your age range and fitness level, you will always have somebody to chat with and motivate you.
