Ways To Prevent Heart Disease

Most Common Heart Diseases:
Heart problems being one of the most common ailments among the people, a survey shows the most common heart diseases. They are:

Coronary Artery Disease:
Coronary artery disease is a disease where plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries. These arteries supply your heart muscle with oxygen rich blood. Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol and other substances in the blood. When this plaque builds up, this condition is known as atherosclerosis. Plaque narrows the arteries and the blood flow is decreased to the heart muscle. Blood clots form in the arteries. Blood clots can either partially block or fully block the blood flow.

Angina:
When the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked and the blood cannot reach the heart muscle, this can cause angina, or commonly known as a heart attack. Angina is a chest pain that occurs when the oxygen rich blood is not flowing into your heart muscle. Angina feels like a squeezing or pressure in your chest and discomfort. It can also start with a pain in the shoulders, neck, arms, back or jaw. Now when the blood flow to the muscles stop, quick treatment is required.

Heart Failure:
This is a condition in which there is insufficient supply of oxygen to the heart. Heart failure can cause a variety of illnesses like shortness of breath, coughing, ankle swelling and reduced exercise capacity. Receiving proper treatment for heart failure can make you feel better and you will live longer. If the treatment is not quick, then heart attack can lead to the death of the person. Over a period of time, coronary heart disease can weaken the heart muscle, which can lead to heart failure and arrhythmias.

Heart Rhythm Problems:
Arrhythmias is a problem with the speed and rhythm of your heartbeat. When normal, the heartbeat is nice and regular, and has just the right regular rate. When things are not quite right, that is when the heartbeat is too fast or too slow and irregular, it is known as a cardiac arrhythmia. Many arrhythmia are inconsequential, while others are dangerous and life threatening.

Heart Problems In Women:
Although many people regard heart disease as a man’s problem, women can get and do get heart diseases. Heart disease is the number one killer of women. The heart condition and heart disease the woman gets is often different from men. The older a woman gets, she is more likely to develop heart disease.
