Spa Therapies Of Thailand

Thai Scrubs:

Traditionally, scrubs and masks are used to exfoliate and nourish the skin and improve circulation. In a Thai spa, natural ingredients are used – the most popular being honey. Harvested in the northern part of Thailand, honey is a natural moisturiser and has traditionally been used to treat open cuts and wounds by encouraging the growth of new skin. Devarana Spa at The Dusit Thani Hotel has, with the support of Spa of Siam, created the following scrub to promote silky smooth skin. This scrub promises to stimulate cirsulation, and cleanse, exfoliate and tone even the most sensitive skin. Simple, yet effective, it can be easily done at home.

Rice Body Polish:
Ingredients: 1 tbsp rice meal; 1 tbsp Ochna; 3 tsp tamarind paste; 3 tsp honey; your choice of body lotion.
Pound the rice meal using a pestle and mortar to a desired consistency – finer for sensitive skin and coarser for normal skin. Transfer to a bowl and combine all the ingredients (including your favourite body lotion) together to form a paste. Apply the polish on your body in light circular motions, paying special attention to your knees, elbows and feet. Rinse off, preferably only with water and no soap, and moisturise.
